The selection of polypropylene filament for the POY process is incorrect, and the subsequent processing is very burdensome - match the scenario accordingly 

Polypropylene POY yarn (pre-tensioned yarn) is a semi-finished product of polypropylene filament. It needs to undergo filament drawing or stretching processing to achieve the final performance. Different post-processing equipment and end products have different requirements for POY yarn. Below, we will help you match them according to common application scenarios. 

Scene 1: Post-processing production of DTY yarn (stretched and deformed yarn) 

This is one of the main applications of POY yarn. By using the false twisting deformation machine, POY yarn is processed into DTY yarn, which is used in fabrics that require a fluffy feel. 

Recommendation focus: Select POY yarns with good evenness and moderate elongation rate (120%-150%). The evenness of the yarn (CV value) directly affects the stability of tension during the drawing process. The smaller the CV value, the lower the breakage rate and the fewer the fuzz during drawing. 

Key indicators: During the procurement process, suppliers are required to provide reports on the evenness of the filament structure and the CV value of the elongation rate of the POY filament. These two indicators are the core references for evaluating the processability of the POY filament. 

Application product: Polypropylene DTY yarn is used in areas such as carpet yarn, decorative fabrics, and clothing and footwear materials that require a soft and fluffy feel. 

Scene 2: Used for pre-drawing before weaving (such as in the drawing yarn production line) 

Some weaving enterprises do not have filament spinning equipment, but they do have drawing equipment. They can draw the POY yarn and then directly use it for weaving luggage straps, industrial fabrics, etc. 

Recommendation focus: Select POY yarns with moderate and uniform elongation. The stretching ratio should be determined based on the original elongation rate of the POY yarns. If the elongation rate of the same batch of POY yarns varies greatly, it will result in uneven fineness of the stretched yarns, affecting the fabric appearance. 

Complementary services: During the procurement process, you can inquire of the supplier whether they can provide suggestions for the stretching process parameters that are compatible with POY silk. This will help shorten the time for on-machine debugging. 

Scene 3: For dyeing the base liquid of POY filament (colored POY) 

Directly produce colored POY yarns, and then through post-processing, obtain colored DTY or stretch yarns, eliminating the post-processing dyeing step. 

Recommendation focus: Select colored POY yarns with evenly dispersed color masterbatches and good color batch stability. Colored POY yarns have higher requirements for spinning processes. Poor dispersion of color masterbatches can result in color spots or colored yarns. 

Batch control: When purchasing colored POY yarn, it is recommended to ask the supplier to provide multiple sample rolls from recent batches for color comparison, in order to assess the level of color difference control between batches. 

Scene Four: Small-batch customization for specific specifications 

For POY yarns with special denier (such as those with a denier below 300D or above 1800D) or with special properties (such as anti-static or flame-retardant), regular stock may not be sufficient. 

Recommendation focus: Select suppliers with customized production capabilities. Inform about the target fineness, elongation range, whether color addition or functional granules are required, and the minimum order quantity. 

Proofing verification: For custom POY silk, it is recommended to conduct a small-scale trial spinning first to confirm the processability and the effect of subsequent processing. Only after that can the order be expanded.

Pre-determined post-processing method: Spinning (for producing DTY), direct stretching weaving, or for specific color or functional products? Different processes have different requirements for the evenness of the filament structure, elongation CV value, and color stability of POY fibers. 

Additional specification: Determine the fineness range (68D - 1800D) based on the requirements of the final product. Indicate whether color or functional pigments are needed. 

Finally, conduct a sample trial run: Use it in small quantities on your winding machine or stretching equipment to observe the breakage rate, tension fluctuations, as well as the appearance and feel of the finished silk.
